Etizolam is a drug that has yet to be approved in the United States by the FDA. It is considered a research chemical that can be abused and used to get high. It is similar to valium and is 6-10 times more potent.Etizolam has recently gained popularity in the UK and Europe. This drug helps treat panic disorders and anxiety though it is prescribed in countries like Italy, Japan, and India it remains illegal in most countries. Etizolam is usually taken orally by swallowing it and can also be taken in tablet form or powder which is placed in gel capsules. Some of its generic names include Etizest, Etizolam, Depas, Pasadena, Sedekopan, and Etilaam. The cost of Etizolam varies and usually depends on the quantity and form that is being purchased. The cost for Etizolam can range from $1.34 for one single tablet. 100 tablet can cost around $52.40 in US dollars. The powder form of Etizolam ranges from $1.34 for 50mg to $1,254.85 for 20 grams.

What is it?

It is an effective anti-anxiety drug that is used to control anxiety and is used for short term treatment of insomnia. Etizolam is part of the benzodiazepine class of drugs which is where you can also find other drugs like antidepressants.This is also where Etizolam derives from as it acts much like an antidepressant by producing a feeling of wellbeing and calmness along with serving as a relaxant to the body. Evidence has shown that different from benzodiazepines, Etizolam does not count on a speedy build-up to gain strength but if abused can have greater side effects.  There has been much concern of Etizolam being abused for its calming and euphoric effects of getting “high” or being used a date rape drug for its amnesia producing effects and the ability it has to lessen an individual’s consciousness. Though it is difficult to prove that this drug is being abused in the United States there has been over 120 drug reports from 2012-2014 in 21 states of people using Etizolam as a recreational drug. Etizolam can be used as a recreational drug by swallowing it, chewing it, injecting it, smoking, or snorting it.

Etizolam is mainly prescribed for patients who suffer from anxiety. As this medicine is used to treat anxiety disorders that are characterized by symptoms like sweating, agitation, hyperactivity and panic. It is also prescribed to patients with insomnia. This medicine is used to control insomnia characterized by the inability to sleep. Most patients suffer from symptoms which include irritation, fatigue, and memory loss.

Benefits of Etizolam

Anxiety and depression

Etizola has been proven to be an effective drug to treat patients who suffer from anxiety and depression. Also when combined with other treatments it can also alleviate panic disorders as well as treat people with hypertension.

Alleviates pain

Etilozam  can alleviate pain for a short period of time, usually for up to 30 minutes. Though it’s not the ideal form of treatment. In young patients, Etizolam combined with anti-inflammatory drugs can be a useful and effective treatment for typical headaches.

Contradictions of Etizolam

If you are taking Etizolam, you should not combine it with the following medications:

  • Porphyria– this medication is used on patients who suffer from a rare blood disease
  • Myasthenia Gravis– This is for patients who suffer from a neuromuscular condition. This is where the muscles get weak quickly and cause other problems.
  • Allergy– This medication is not recommended if you have a history of allergy of Etizolam.

Doses

Standard dosage of Etizolam

The general dosage of Etizolam is between 1-2mg and can be taken orally or sublingually, meaning under the tongue. A small or light Etizolam dose is 0.5-1 mg, a strong dose is between 2-5mg and a heavy dosage of Etizolam is considered to be of 5mg.

Dependency , tolerance, and withdrawal symptoms

Benzodiazepines such as Etizolam are quickly eliminated from the body so it’s less likely that the user body can become dependent on Etizolam. Though if administered in higher doses can cause a physical dependency. Some of the most common withdrawal symptoms include insomnia, anxiety, dizziness, vomiting, nausea, weakness, irritability, hypersensitivity, tachycardia and hypotension. In rare and more severe cases patients may develop disorders and dysfunctions including confusion, hallucinations, seizures, psychosis, and agitation.

Short-term drug

Etizolam is meant to be taken for no longer than a couple of months and is considered a short-term drug for temporary relief. If Etizolam is taken for longer, it can cause the brain to get used to it. The result would be that the body would stop producing and transmitting neurotransmitters and would cause the brain to struggle trying to get back to normal. In a clinical trial where the focus was the use of Etizolam for anxiety symptoms, the results showed that Etizolam was more effective over a longer period of time when compared to other benzodiazepines which tend to become less effective over time. As when a drug becomes less effective, a stronger drug or dose is needed to the same effective result. With Etizolam, it’s not the case as Etizolam can be described as a reverse tolerant. Lastly, Etizolam should be used for a short period of time as the longer its used the higher is the chance of addiction.
